International Humanitarian City (IHC)

Overview

The Government of Dubai established the Independent Free Zone Authority (IHC), which solidifies Dubai as a crucial link in the humanitarian value chain. IHC meets the unique demands of the humanitarian relief and development community while bringing them together in a safe environment that promotes collaborations, social responsibility, and global change. IHC does this by using the tried-and-true Dubai free zone concept.
IHC also gives commercial businesses the chance to operate from a highly advantageous location in a free zone setting that is tailored to their specific industry, while taking advantage of alluring incentives and a variety of value-added services thinks the inclusion of commercial providers of products and services will boost humanitarian operations. There are over 500 members of the international humanitarian society in Dubai, representing over 68 different countries. The International Humanitarian City tripled in size from 30,000 square meters to 90,000 square meters in 2011, allowing members to move shipments from sea to air in as little as 10 minutes, and moved into its current strategic location near Al Maktoum Airport and close to Jebel Ali Port.
IHC has been created to:
Offer a worldwide reaction to emergencies.
IHC is a non-religious, non-political and nonprofit organization.
Infrastructure, services, and practical assistance should be provided to attempts at international and global development and humanitarian help.
Develop strategies and promote best practices to increase the efficacy and efficiency of operations for development and humanitarian relief.
