Overview
A project currently under construction, Dubai South Free Zone (formerly known as Dubai World Central), will act as an economic zone to support a variety of activities, including logistics, aviation, commercial, exhibition, humanitarian, residential, and other related businesses around Al Maktoum International Airport. The yearly capacity of Dubai South is 12 million tons of cargo and 160 million passengers. 145 square kilometers, or nearly twice the size of Hong Kong Island, are dedicated to building.
Apart from the airport and the Expo 2020 site, Dubai South, which spans 145 square kilometers, is separated into mini-cities such Residential, Commercial, Aviation, Logistics, and Golf. The vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, lies at the core of Dubai South, which is known as the emirate’s main urban development project. Officials from Dubai South claim that the Dubai Plan 2021’s concepts, which are applicable to Dubai South, match the royal vision as follows:
To develop into a city with people who are content, creative, and empowered
To become the location where people want to live, work, and invest
To build a diverse and harmonious community
To create a sustainable and smart city
To establish itself as a key node in the world economy
The following is included in the master plan for Dubai South Free Zone
Aviation District
District Logistics
Business Park
The 6.7 sq. km. Aviation District functions as a distinct Integrated Aviation Eco System. The Middle East Business Aviation Show, the VIP Terminal, and the Dubai Airshow all have permanent residences in the District.
A multimodal platform for businesses connected to the supply chain is the Logistics District. The district provides both ready-to-use and build-to-suit buildings for contract logistics, integrators, freight-forwarders, and agents. The Al Maktoum International Airport's airside access aids air freight operations.
The Business Park provides adaptable office spaces for start-ups, SMEs, and big businesses in a variety of industries. Additionally, it has a business center with offices.
